Nature Play Equipment
Nature play equipment brings the look and feel of the outdoors into a playground: log and timber climbers, boulder scrambles, tree-top and treehouse structures, animal and woodland themes, cedar shelters, and earth-toned palettes that settle into a park rather than shouting over it.
It is the usual choice for campgrounds, nature centres, trailheads, riverside parks, and schools with a naturalized yard, where a bright primary-colour structure would look out of place. Nature-themed equipment is also popular with landscape architects working to a site-sensitive design brief.
The play value is the same as any commercial playground — climbing, sliding, balancing, and imaginative play — but the storytelling is different. A trail bus, a woodland café, a beaver lodge, or a tree-top climber gives children a setting to invent inside, which drives longer and more social play than equipment with no theme at all.

Summit Spectrum Playground
Summit Spectrum is a large, inclusive Blue Imp agility playground. A ramp with accessible steps leads up to the decks, so children who use mobility devices can join in, and the layout adds climbing boulders, a log tunnel, round net climbers, overhead ladders and rings, a plank climber and a ground-level play boat. A triple-lane slide and a double slide come off the decks, and the whole layout covers about 3,754 sq ft. It is made in Medicine Hat, Alberta, to CSA Z614. Jasper Junction
Jasper Junction is a Blue Imp play structure with a railroad theme. A long ramp leads up to the decks, and a locomotive-style play train sits at ground level. Blue Imp rates it for ages 1.5 to 12 and shows it with an Annex H accessibility badge. Two plastic slides, one straight and one curved, come down from the upper decks. There are curved arch climbers, an overhead loop ladder, a spider-web play panel, flower toppers and a small chute slide. A ground-level spinner panel gives children who stay on the ground something to do. The overall footprint is about 39 x 45 ft (per Blue Imp). Cedar Summit
Cedar Summit is a Blue Imp play structure in the Rootz style, with a wood-look roof, a butterfly post topper and an Annex H accessibility badge. Blue Imp rates it for ages 5 to 12. Its feature is a large dip slide with an 88" deep dip, alongside a second slide. Children can climb up a cargo net, rock holds or a ring climber, cross a wavy overhead ladder, and swing on a trapeze bar. Stairs with a transfer step and a bench add access and seating. Adventure Junction | Nature Community Playground
A community playground designed primarily for lava-tag and grounders, but with a strong emphasis on nature-themed play, including a GFRC Log Tunnel, Log Steppers, and Cobble Boulder together with leaf steppers, a leaf roof and a brightly coloured butterfly. The 9-foot-high swingset rounds off the design with nearly every form of play - adventure, agility, sliding, swinging, hanging and climbing!

Lodgepole Place is a Blue Imp play structure in the Rootz style, with tree-shaped post toppers, a wood-look shingle roof and woodland-themed panels. Blue Imp rates it for ages 1.5 to 12. Children enter by stairs and climb using a curly climber. They cross a ramp bridge between decks and come down two slides. Rootwood Glen
Rootwood Glen brings the forest floor to the playground — a woodland-themed structure from Blue Imp where kids scramble up a leaf climber, a double Rootz climb, and a boulder climber crowned with evergreen tree toppers. Two stainless-steel slides, including a 10-foot wave slide, carry them back down, while a pebble path and a scavenger-hunt panel reward curious explorers. Driftwood Den is a roofed playhouse-style structure for the youngest crowd. The CedarScape TimberCube is a 108"-high net climber framed in planed 8x8 cedar timbers with oversized decorative steel brackets. Children climb, crawl and weave through the 20 mm SteelCore nylon rope net inside the cube, choosing their own route up and across. The CedarScape TimberCafe combines a rope climber with a café-themed play space. CedarScape Balance Beam
Crafted from a single hand-hewn cedar log roughly 10 inches in diameter and 8 feet long, this balance beam is countersunk slightly below finished grade so it sits low, stable, and flush with the surfacing around it. Children step heel-to-toe along its length, building core strength, coordination, and spatial awareness — a confident first challenge for early walkers and a warm-up for older climbers. Rounded ends and a ground-level profile make it easy to approach on its own, and a natural connector between larger CedarScape elements in a nature-themed play circuit.
Apex Rock & Rope
Apex Rock & Rope connects two Apex™ boulders with a rope bridge suspended under a steel arch. Children cross from one summit to the other, testing balance and confidence, and can climb the rocks themselves from several sides. The piece measures 60" high, 60" long and 48" wide. The boulders are cast in Alberta from glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC), and the assembly weighs about 6,000 lb. It meets CSA Z614. The Apex Boulder is a 6-foot climbing rock with realistic rock texture and several climbing routes. Children choose their own way up, which builds strength, problem solving and confidence. Acadia Boulder
The Acadia Boulder is a mid-sized climbing rock, 4 feet wide, 4 feet high and 5'3" long. It works on its own or as a step between larger play features. Its realistic rock texture gives children several ways to climb and balance. It is cast in Alberta as part of BDI's StoneWood concrete play line and built to CSA Z614. StoneWood Tunnel
The StoneWood Tunnel looks like a fallen log. Children crawl through it, climb over it and use it as a hideout, and it adds a natural focal point to a nature-themed playground. Cobble™
Cobble™ is a small Apex™ boulder from BDI's StoneWood concrete play line, made in Alberta to CSA Z614. At 32" high, 36" long and 26" wide, it is sized to bridge the gap between lower platforms, climbers and other play features, or to be set in a group as a stepping path. It is cast from glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC) and weighs about 700 lb, with a realistic rock texture that children can step on, climb and balance across. Because GFRC holds up to weather and wear, it suits nature-themed playgrounds that need a low-maintenance natural look. StoneWood Steppers
StoneWood Steppers look like tree stumps. Children jump, balance and step from one to the next, making up their own routes across a play area. They are cast in Alberta from glass-fibre-reinforced concrete (GFRC) and meet CSA Z614. They come in two sizes, 12" (SW2567) and 24" (SW2569), and can be set at different heights and spacings to adjust the challenge. 2-Way Bouncing Teeter
The 2-Way Bouncing Teeter puts two riders face to face on a spring-mounted see-saw, trading gentle bounce for giggles while they learn to time their push and read a partner's rhythm. Cast-aluminum seats and 2-inch steel arms pivot on coil springs over a spun-steel centre dome, all powder-coated for the long haul. Sized for ages 2–12 in about a 22 ft x 16 ft space. 4-Way Bouncing Teeter
The 4-Way Bouncing Teeter turns see-saw play into a four-way group game — riders face inward around a spun-steel centre dome and bounce in turn, negotiating rhythm and cooperation as a foursome. Cast-aluminum seats ride on coil springs with 2-inch steel arms and 1-inch tube hand-holds, finished in a durable powder coat. Suits ages 2–12. Spider Webz
Spider Webz is a climber made of two large rope webs set in tilted rings on posts. Children climb up one web and across to the other, building strength and confidence. The Snake Balance Beam is a low, winding beam shaped like a snake, from its head to the tip of its tail.
