Commercial Playground Climbers
Climbing is the backbone of almost every playground, and BDI Play Designs supplies commercial playground climbers in every format: rope and net climbers, geodesic domes, rock and scramble walls, spiral and arch climbers, themed climbers, and freestanding climbing events that stand on their own or bolt onto a larger structure.
Freestanding climbers are the fastest way to add play value to an existing site. Most drop into open space beside a structure without redesigning the whole playground, and many can be installed by a school or municipal maintenance crew rather than a contractor.
Every climber we supply is built for commercial use to CAN/CSA-Z614 and ASTM F1487, in hot-dip galvanized or powder-coated steel with hardware chosen for Canadian winters. Climbing height, grip spacing, and fall zones differ by age group, so a toddler climber, a school-age climber, and a youth agility climber are genuinely different products — filter by age range to narrow the list.

SteelCore DreamWeaver™
The SteelCore DreamWeaver™ 3, a modern multi-dimensional net climber designed and engineered by BDI Play Designs, includes 4 unique planar-net climbing events, two rock-climbing walls with a suspension bridge crossing between them, and two walls of suspended rubber climbing spheres for a unique challenge. This climber can be functionally linked to the rest of the playground allowing for interconnected grounders and lava-tag-friendly design layouts. The 'With Slide' configuration adds an enclosed stainless-steel tube slide that curves down from the top of the climber, offering children a quick exit after the climb.
CedarScape TimberCube
The CedarScape TimberCube is a 108"-high net climber framed in planed 8x8 cedar timbers with oversized decorative steel brackets. Children climb, crawl and weave through the 20 mm SteelCore nylon rope net inside the cube, choosing their own route up and across. The timbers are finished with a UV-resistant stain, and all hardware is stainless steel. It is made in Alberta and designed to CSA Z614. Triple Peak
Triple Peak is a set of three A-frame rope net climbers topped with snow-capped mountain panels. Children climb up one face and down the other, moving from peak to peak. Its sister piece, Lone Peak, is the same climber as a single A-frame. Blue Imp rates it for ages 5 to 12, and it is IPEMA-certified. The overall footprint is about 18 x 30 ft (per Blue Imp). Apex Rock & Rope
Apex Rock & Rope connects two Apex™ boulders with a rope bridge suspended under a steel arch. Children cross from one summit to the other, testing balance and confidence, and can climb the rocks themselves from several sides. The piece measures 60" high, 60" long and 48" wide. The boulders are cast in Alberta from glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC), and the assembly weighs about 6,000 lb. It meets CSA Z614. Apex Boulder
The Apex Boulder is a 6-foot climbing rock with realistic rock texture and several climbing routes. Children choose their own way up, which builds strength, problem solving and confidence. It is cast in Alberta from glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC), weighs about 2,835 lb and meets CSA Z614. GFRC holds up to weather and wear with little maintenance. Acadia Boulder
The Acadia Boulder is a mid-sized climbing rock, 4 feet wide, 4 feet high and 5'3" long. It works on its own or as a step between larger play features. Its realistic rock texture gives children several ways to climb and balance. It is cast in Alberta as part of BDI's StoneWood concrete play line and built to CSA Z614. Cobble™
Cobble™ is a small Apex™ boulder from BDI's StoneWood concrete play line, made in Alberta to CSA Z614. At 32" high, 36" long and 26" wide, it is sized to bridge the gap between lower platforms, climbers and other play features, or to be set in a group as a stepping path. It is cast from glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC) and weighs about 700 lb, with a realistic rock texture that children can step on, climb and balance across. Because GFRC holds up to weather and wear, it suits nature-themed playgrounds that need a low-maintenance natural look. StoneWood Steppers
StoneWood Steppers look like tree stumps. Children jump, balance and step from one to the next, making up their own routes across a play area. They are cast in Alberta from glass-fibre-reinforced concrete (GFRC) and meet CSA Z614. They come in two sizes, 12" (SW2567) and 24" (SW2569), and can be set at different heights and spacings to adjust the challenge. Geo-Dome
The Geo-Dome is a geodesic dome climber made of a web of connecting members with climbing holds. Children climb up, over and inside the dome, choosing their own route.
