The Contrabass Chimes are seven giant anodized aluminum tubes, each 4" in diameter and between about 7 and 9 ft tall, that give a deep, long-ringing bass tone. They are tuned to C major pentatonic.
The chimes can be set in a line or in a horseshoe, which surrounds players with sound. The set includes two mallet poles and four mallets, and more chimes can be added. They feature in the Premium and Sculptural ensembles.
